Lexa speaks out after criticism for recording with Marília Mendonça's look-alike

Singer Lexa was harshly criticized on social media after recording a video singing with Marília Mendonça's look-alike, Val Pinheiro. They met during the recording of the program “Caldeirão”, on the Globo network. In the recording, Lexa appears alongside her lookalike singing the song “Infiel”, by the late Marília Mendonça (1995 – 2021).

Lexa's statement

This Wednesday (02), after receiving several offensive comments, MC Guimê's wife decided to speak out on social media. On her official Twitter profile, Lexa published: “People insulting me because I treated Marília's cover with affection and respect, what did people want me to do? She participated in the same TV show that I had sung in and at the end she came to record a video with me and I treated her well and I'm being insulted, huh? I had nothing”he wrote.

After the video was published, internet users shared opinions on social media. “These people are crazy Lexa, now no one can be a lookalike of Marília Mendonça and people will fall over me, it's funny that no one says anything about Michael Jackson's lookalike, who is Rodrigo Thisso. Let people be happy, no one will steal the place of our Queen of suffering.”wrote one internet user on Twitter.

“Horrible cover, nothing like Marília Mendonça’s greatness”wrote another.

Controversies

Another controversy involves Juliana Cavalheiro, another look-alike of country singer Marília Mendonça. She even starred as the singer in a meeting with Dona Ruth, Marília's mother, Léo, the singer's son, and Murilo Huff. On social media, many people criticized the lookalike's attitude, as in the recording, Léo appears suspicious.

Given this, Juliana, on SBT's “Fofocalizando” program, spoke about the meeting with the countrywoman's family. She said that they only took the part where Léo appears with his face closed, and not the part where he was happy and smiling. Juliana also pointed out that she does not intend to be a copy of Marília, but that she seeks to form her own career, in addition to having no intention of disrespecting the countrywoman's image.
