Libertadores Medals get new design for the end of 2024

The new medals that will be awarded to the runner-up and champion of the Copa Libertadores da América 2024 edition were announced by Conmebol. There are some differences compared to last season's medals, which had the same model since 2019. Whoever wins the title, in addition to the cup and medal, will also receive a prize of US$23 million, which, at the current price, is equivalent to R$ 140 million reais.

The most notable changes to the Libertadores medals are the gold or silver background and the black ring, with the words “champion” or “runner-up” and the name of the tournament. In the previous version, the background of the medal featured the cup design in black, while the colors of the medals were restricted to the edges.

In addition to the changes to the medals, the trophy also underwent a remodel. The lower base, where the plaques with the names of the champions are placed, gained an additional row, allowing space for eight more names in the next editions of the tournament.

Final between Atlético MG and Botafogo takes place this Saturday (30)

The match will be played this Saturday, November 30th, at 5pm, at the Monumental de Núñez Stadium, in Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina. This will be the first time that Botafogo will play in a Libertadores final. Atlético Mineiro will play its second decision; in 2013, the club beat Olímpia, from Paraguay, on penalties 4-3, winning their first title in the competition.

The decision between Atlético-MG and Botafogo reinforces Brazilian supremacy in the Libertadores. Since 2019, Brazilian teams have participated in all the finals and won the tournament. Among the champions are Flamengo (2019 and 2022), Palmeiras (2020 and 2021) and Fluminense, who won the cup in 2023 by beating Boca Juniors in extra time.
