Lojas Americanas closes Ame Digital activities

Americanas' financial company, Ame Digital, will stop providing its services by November of this year. Tiago Abate, vice president of Americanas' Customer Department, says that the company is still studying the possibility of creating a new credit business. The announcement was made via email to customers registered with Ame Digital's services this Monday (02), where “changes in the company’s ecosystem” was identified as the main cause of the closure.

Recovery strategies

The Ame Digital platform was created in 2018. The service was mainly used to receive and deposit cashback from customers who participated in the Lojas Americanas loyalty program.

According to Tiago Abate, the finance team at Lojas Americanas considered investing in service growth or closing the project. The second option was chosen, taking into account the company's current situation and the demand for resources that the system needed to continue existing.

The employees and activities already provided by Ame will be part of a new team that will study the creation of a future loyalty program for the company, which promises to bring more advantages to users. The company also does not rule out the creation of a bank in the future, which could provide credit and financing services.

Centria Capital Partners Consulting was chosen to mediate the sale of Ame Digital and its assets.

Lojas Americanas continues to create strategies for a quick recovery, not ruling out the closure of other smaller and non-strategic assets.

Recent announcements have boosted the company's numbers by around 20%, with its shares trading at R$7.25.

How to access your Ame Digital account balance

In an email to its customers, Ame Digital reported that access to the platform will be permitted until November 2, 2024. Until this date, customers will be able to redeem available balances, but new deposits will not be made. The amount in the accounts can be transferred to another account or used for purchases at Lojas Americanas.

Accounts with no balance will be automatically closed within 30 days.
