“We, the original Lollipop Chainsaw development team, hold the game very precious to us and didn’t want to leave it in limbo where players who want to play it can’t,” said Yasuda.

“Therefore, we purchased the intellectual property Lollipop Chainsaw from Kadokawa Games and decided to develop a remake. We have already reached out to Warner Bros [who published the game outside of Asia] about development and we are being supported by them in this endeavor.”

Yasuda clarified that the remake will have some different elements from the original game, giving the licensed songs as an example, stating that some of them cannot be implemented and because of that they will be replaced by new songs.
