Luca Zidane reduced to his last name,
In an exclusive interview with the JDD, Luca Zidane, the son of Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane, opened up about this sometimes difficult name to wear. A professional football player, he intends to build his own career and come out of the shadow of his father.
He is one of the most mythical names in world football and one of the best players of the last 30 years. In just a few seasons at Juventus Turin, Real Madrid and especially with France’s team, Zinedine Zidane has become a legend.
A status that he was able to maintain after the end of his career by becoming an internationally renowned coach.
Alongside his brilliant career, the 49-year-old man has built a radiant family life with his wife Véronique. Father of 4 children, he obviously passed on his talent for football since they all played at a high level.
Second in the siblings after Enzo, Luca Zidane (23) has chosen the position of goalkeeper and he has been playing for two years with Rayo Vallecano, a mid-table club in the first division.
At the end of his contract next June, the young man is thinking about his future, which could be part of the France, the country that revealed his father, but where he has never played before.
A father adored in France, a situation that can sometimes be complicated to live, as he explains. “I am proud to be my father’s son, of everything he has done.
But from time to time, our name is hard to bear,” he admits in an interview with the Journal du Dimanche.

I would like to be told about my career, less about his
Like his brother Enzo, who moved to France last summer to pursue his career, Luca imagines himself doing the same thing, and why not in Marseille, the city where he was born.
A way to cut ties with his family and this omnipresent father, wherever he goes. “I’d like to hear about my career, less about his.
They are two different things. The time has come to make a name for me,” says Elyaz and Theo’s older brother.
Luca Zidane knows that with a surname like his, he will be expected at the turn wherever he goes. “With the name I have, it’s a bit complicated. Criticism comes faster,” he explains, before evoking another well-known “son of”:
“Marcus Thuram (editor’s note, son of Lilian Thuram) is in the same case as me, he is an example to follow. To make my own professional career, I need a club that recruits Luca more than Zidane.”
