Luciano is disappointed with the defeat and has an uncertain future at São Paulo

Luciano, São Paulo striker, scored the team's only goal in the 2-1 defeat against Juventude, this Wednesday (4), at Morumbi, in the 37th round of the Brazilian Championship. However, what caught the attention was the tricolor striker's interview right after the game, where Luciano did not guarantee his stay at the club for 2025, even though he has a contract with São Paulo until December 2026.

Open future

When asked if he would continue at São Paulo, Luciano preferred not to commit: “Don'ti”, he said, ending the interview. The athlete arrived at the club in 2020 and has experienced ups and downs at Tricolor and has been the subject of speculation about a possible departure. Luciano is 31 years old and is São Paulo's top scorer in 2024, with a total of 17 goals. The striker has more goals than center forward Calleri this year.

The striker, before ending the interview, stated that he wants the team to finish the season on a good note, regardless of the changes that may occur in the squad: “We wanted to finish the season winning at home for ourselves, our families and fans, now it's time to go to the last game and see who will stay or not so we can improve“, said Luciano.

Defeat at Morumbi

Luciano regretted the defeat against Juventude and classified the team's performance as negative, pointing out a lack of attention during the game: “I think that in the first half we had possession of the ball, but their team was closed and we didn't score, like against Grêmio, we shut down and concede some silly goals and then being behind it's difficult to reverse” analyzed the attacker.

With the defeat, São Paulo continued with 59 points and in sixth place in the table. Tricolor is guaranteed in the 2025 Libertadores and ends its participation in the Brazilian Championship next Sunday (8), against Botafogo, who will be looking for the title at home at Nilton Santos, Rio de Janeiro.
