Luíza Sonza decides to postpone tour due to racism lawsuit

Singer Luíza Sonza announced this Monday (26), the decision to postpone the start of her new tour “The tale of two worlds”, due to the racism lawsuit she is facing and which ended up coming to light after a hearing on the case was suspended last week. Through her Instagram stories, Sonza explained that the decision was made because she was dedicating her time to resolve this episode: “I'm missing from here because I'm resolving the whole case with Isabel. I'm looking for the best way to resolve this in the most correct way possible, in accordance with all my ideals”, were Luísa's words.

Lawyer Isabel Macedo accuses the singer of having been racist towards her when the artist, during a party in Fernando de Noronha, asked her for a glass of water, thus implying that she was an employee of the inn where the two were staying. The case happened in 2018, but only became public in 2020. Luíza also said that she wants to request a new hearing so that she can “resolve the process amicably, accepting the amount requested by the author”.

Target of criticism on social media due to her actions that encouraged the complaint, as according to internet users the artist should have clearly apologized at first, Luísa, promised through her positioning in stories, to do the right thing in addition to talking more about this subject once everything is resolved. “I really want to do the right thing and that it is in line with what I have always believed and what I have always said, I will continue to be an ally and now in an even more serious way (…) But, I come back here to talk about that, okay?” expressed Luíza.

About the new tour, the owner of the hits “Cachorrinhas” and “Anaconda”, who was unable to carry out the tests, scoring: “I don't think this is the time for me to do something that is the biggest project of my life right now”. Luísa wants to provide her thousands of fans with a unique experience as she knows that many would travel from their cities to São Paulo to watch her performance on stage. Luíza ended the video by stating that in the future she will speak again about the racism process, that she really wants to do the right thing in accordance with what she has always said and always believed and apologized for everything, because at the moment what she needs is to resolve the situation of best way.
