Lula says leaders would not be in the same room as Putin at the G-20

This Friday (8), the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, said in an interview with the American CNN that Putin's presence in the G-20 would generate a certain discomfort for the other representatives.

Still in this interview, he says that the reason for others' possible discomfort with Putin's presence would be because of his invasion of Ukrainian territory by the Russians. He talks about the arrest warrant against him, this warrant was issued by the International Criminal Court, but he states that this would be the least of the problems.

Still in his speech to CNN, he adds that the problem would not only be to protect him from being arrested, but that it would be a way of avoiding discomfort for the other presidents who would be present at the time.

Putin will not come to Brazil for the ceremony, but Sergei Lavrov is coming in his place to represent this event that will take place at the summit. He also added that it would be necessary for Vladimir Putin to end existing conflicts against Ukraine and thus be able to be present at events held with the representatives.

Putin's crimes

He said that the problems caused by Putin will be resolved after the existing conflicts between the two countries end. After all conflicts are resolved, he claims that both presidents Vladimir Putin and Volodimir Zelensky may be invited to participate in events that will take place at the G20 summit. He said, in the end, that he did not want to talk about this war issue at the summit.

Arrest warrant

THE Arrest warrant for Vladimir Putinwas issued in March last year and was mainly motivated by the crimes of illegal transportation and deportation of children during the period of war between Russia and Ukraine, as determined by Putin. Last year, when Lula was asked about President Putin's reception, he said he would be received calmly and the attempt to arrest him would be a form of disrespect, but that he hoped the conflicts would end.
