Magazine denies third Wonder Woman film in the DC Universe

In an article published yesterday (10), the magazine Variety denies rumors about the supposed third Wonder Woman film. At the beginning of the month, in an interview with ComicBook, actress Gal Gadot, who used to play Wonder Woman in the DC Universe, claimed to have heard from current leaders James Gunn and Peter Safran about developing a third superhero film. The information seemed confusing given the recent replacements of the actors who played alongside Gadot in “Justice League” and the possible reboot of the shared universe.

Sources told Variety that the character's film is not in development at DC Studios and that Gunn and Safran have no plans for “Wonder Woman” in the new Universe in the short term. There is only the already announced series “Wonder Woman: Paradise Lost” for the Max platform, which if it follows the direction of the comic, will be focused on the place of civilization of the Amazons at a time of political conflict between them.

Patty Jenkins' departure

It was also said by informing sources that there is no definitive decision on the actress's continuation as Wonder Woman, and that nothing has been promised to her in relation to a third film. Since the director and screenwriter responsible for directing the heroine's first two solo films, Patty Jenkins, who was working on a third film before Gunn and Safran took the lead, publicly left the project shortly afterwards. At the time, James Gunn used social media to make it clear that Jenkins' departure was amicable.

Rumors

Internet users and fans speculate that the actress's departure is inevitable with the changes in the Universe already announced, but due to the lack of recent plans involving Wonder Woman, they preferred not to announce anything about it for now. Considering that Gadot would continue to appear in films for a while, such as in “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” and lastly in “The Flash”, not announcing the actress’s departure officially may have been a strategy.
