This Monday, June 24, Magazine Luiza (MGLU3.SA) announced a historic agreement with Aliexpress, a marketplace platform belonging to the Chinese group Alibaba, aiming to enhance its e-commerce operations in Brazil. For the first time, Aliexpress has reached a strategic agreement with a company outside of China, a significant milestone for both parties.

According to the official statement, Aliexpress will act as a seller on the Magazine Luiza marketplace (3P model), while the Brazilian giant will make its own products available directly on the Brazilian Aliexpress platform. This collaboration will allow Brazilian consumers access to an expanded variety of products, initially focused on durable goods categories.

Frederico Trajano, president of Magazine Luiza, highlighted during the press conference that the partnership represents a strategic step to increase the range of products available on both platforms, benefiting customers with a more diverse and accessible offer.

Import Facilitation

One of the key points of the agreement is the use of the Conform Remittance program, to facilitate imports and comply with Brazilian government regulations for products purchased abroad. This initiative aims to ensure efficient cross-border operations, ensuring the necessary tax and customs compliance.

Impact on the Financial Market

The announcement boosted Magazine Luiza's shares on the São Paulo Stock Exchange, with an increase of approximately 12%, reflecting the financial market's positive reception of the strategic partnership between the two companies.

Expected to go into operation in the third quarter of this year, the partnership between Magazine Luiza and Aliexpress promises to revolutionize the e-commerce market in Brazil, combining Alibaba's global expertise with Magalu's leadership in national retail.
