Marcos Caruso talks about the cause of Jandira Martini's death
Actor Marcos Caruso gave an interview to Revista 'Who', this Tuesday morning, talking about the death of longtime friend Jandira Martini (1945-2024). Caruso was devastated by the death of the 78-year-old actress and tells what it was like to receive the news that shook him drastically.
Unexpected call
The actor stated that he received the news on the night of January 29th (Monday), through Fernanda Martini, daughter of Jandira Martini, “I received the news from her daughter at 10pm”said the actor, who also revealed his state of health before his death. Marcos Caruso confirmed that the actress from 'The Clone', “had an incident and left”Jandira had been facing health problems resulting from lung cancer, but by then everything had been resolved.

The discovery of the disease happened 5 years ago, Caruso explains that at the time the actress had surgery and was “with quality of life”but in recent months the cancer reappeared, worsening the actress' condition and causing other problems. The writer and actress faced an arduous battle against the disease, passed away in São Paulo and leaves two children, Fernanda and Lucas.
Friends for almost five decades
A professional partnership that began 40 years ago, in 1984, Marcos Caruso and Jandira Martini, They were great friends on and off screen. The two came to work together and sign artistic productions in cinema, television and theater, such as 'Awesome With The Scruples'directed by Jõ Soares, together they wrote seven plays, three scripts, two soap operas, series and even acted as actors in 1994 in the soap opera 'We were six' from SBT, bringing to life the emblematic characters Dona Genu and Seu Virgulino.

Outside the world of dramaturgy, the two released together in 2005 the book 'Comedy'which lives up to its title, presenting texts from 'Misery Pig', 'Who Killed Amélie de Port-Salut' and 'His Excellency the Candidate'three great award-winning hits and written by Marcos Caruso and Jandira Martini. In another interview for 'Who', In 2012, the actor even commented on the close relationship the two had and joked that their friendship was so strong and affectionate that people got confused, thinking that the two were a couple off camera.
