Martin Scorsese reveals that Ari Aster inspired the film “Killer of the Flower Moon”

In a recent interview with The Irish Times, acclaimed filmmaker Martin Scorsese revealed that he was inspired by Ari Aster's productions for the feature film “Killer of the Flower Moon” and admitted that he admires the pace at which Aster's horror films, such as “Midsommar” go, : Evil Doesn't Wait for Night” and “Beau Is Afraid”, which Scorsese classifies as good.

According to Scorsese, he opted for a slower pace and allowed himself to include scenes that were not part of the narrative, such as scenes that highlighted Osage culture, so that viewers could delve deeper into the film's universe and concluded by saying that at the age where you are, it's important to take risks and take advantage of opportunities to try something new.

Book

“Killer of the Flower Moon” is inspired by the best-seller of the same name, by David Grann released in 2016, which brings true stories of the murder of people who had oil deposits on their land in the early 1920s in Osage County in Oklahoma. The book follows the journey of FBI agent Tom White with the investigations of the case, in addition to addressing the conviction of the county's political leader and cattle rancher, William Hale, who was involved in bribery, intimidation and extortion of Indians, it was also pointed out as one of those responsible for the murders of the Osage Indians.

Film

In the film, which premieres this Thursday (19), the story will take new directions with Leonardo DiCaprio taking the lead as Ernest Burkhart, a war veteran involved in schemes to rob the people of the county until he becomes involved with a citizen of Osage named Mollie, played by Lily Gladstone. The cast also features other big names such as Robert De Niro and Brendan Fraser, as well as Jesse Plemons playing the character Tom White, who despite the adaptation, will not be left out.
