With the creation of the entertainment and music company, Hot Girl Productions, rapper Megan Thee Stallion not only guaranteed the rights to her “masters”, but also to publication. In addition to the independent label, Stallion signed an agreement with Warner Music Group.
While the singer's company will be responsible for launching her next projects, Warner and its international affiliates will handle global distribution and marketing.
The partnership between the entities also allows Megan to have full creative control of productions and to integrate artists who sign with her label to Warner Music Group.
“This is the beginning of an exciting new chapter in my life and career,” shared Megan Thee Stallion in a statement. “I'm really focused on building an empire and growing as an entrepreneur. So I'm proud to take this next step in my journey and work with Max Lousada (CEO of WMG) and the entire Warner Music Group team in this new capacity. I know we will create history together”.

Legal dispute with record company
The artist's decision to become independent took place in October 2023, after a long legal dispute with her former record label, 1501 Certified Entertainment. In 2020, Megan Thee Stallion stated that her label was preventing her from releasing new music.
In 2022, with the agency of Roc Nation, the singer filed a complaint against 1501 Certified Entertainment in the amount of US$1 million. Stallion alleged that the record label deceived her in 2018 by making her sign a recording contract “crazy” and below industry standards.
In the action, the singer also mentioned “insufficient payment of royalties” and “unfairly excessive marketing and promotion charges”, in addition to asking the label to consider his 2021 work, “Something for Thee Hotties,” as an “album,” which would end his contract with the label.
However, it was only at the end of 2023 that the company and artist “mutually reached a confidential agreement to resolve their legal differences” and Megan Thee Stallion started financing her own career.
Recent releases
Megan's latest projects, comeback single “Cobra” and follow-up track “Hiss,” have now been released via the Hot Girl Productions label.
In an interview with “Good Morning America”, the singer stated that she should release an album this year, between June and August. Furthermore, during this same period, Megan will also be on stage with “The Hot Girl Summer Tour”.
