Melissa Barrera appears in new image from the film “Abigail”

This Wednesday (28), Total Film magazine releases a new image from the horror film “Abigail”, which will be released in 2024. In the photo, Mexican actress and singer Melissa Barrera appears prominently alongside her co-stars . After being fired from Pânico 7, the artist distanced herself from the media for a while. According to Variety magazine, the dismissal occurred due to Melissa's comments on social media supporting Palestine. The artist did not comment on the case, however, at this moment, this seems to be a closed story for her.

Blood, horror and vampires

The film tells the story of a group of alleged criminals who kidnap a twelve-year-old dancer, daughter of one of the most powerful men in the underworld. All they have to do, to collect a ransom of US$50 million, is watch the girl at night, however, isolated in a mansion, the kidnappers begin to disappear, one by one, and discover, overcome by an ascending horror , who are locked up with a not-so-normal child.

In addition to Barrera, the cast of “Abigail” also includes Dan Stevens (Gaslit), Kathryn Newton (Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania), William Catlett (Black Lightning), Kevin Durand (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Angus Cloud (Euphoria), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad) and Alisha Weir (Matilda: The Musical) who will play the role of Abigail.

The film promises to bring a new take on bloodthirsty vampire films. It was written by Stephen Shields (The Hole in the Ground, Zombie Bashers series) and Guy Busick (Scream franchise, Bloody Wedding), and will be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, responsible for the haunting modern horror hits Bloody Wedding, Scream (2022) and Pânico 6. They have not yet announced an official date for their release, however it is scheduled for later this year (2024).
