The band CPM 22 went through a scare on Saturday night (30), when a van transporting part of the group was stolen on Linha Amarela, in Rio de Janeiro. The group from São Paulo had a show scheduled for 8pm at the “Rock Na Ilha” event, in Barra da Tijuca, but the performance had to be cancelled.

At the time of the robbery, two members were in the vehicle, but managed to get out before the criminals fled with the van. The band's press office did not reveal which members were present.

Vocalist Fernando Badauí used social media to reassure fans: “Thank you for your concern. Everyone is safe.” In an official statement, the band also stated: “Guys, we are doing well. Unfortunately, we suffered a robbery while we were at the 'Rock Na Ilha' show in Rio de Janeiro, and it was not possible to perform. But stay calm”

Rock on the island

Recognized as an important rock festival, Ilha Rock has already toured several Brazilian states, including Pernambuco, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Ceará, Alagoas. In Rio de Janeiro, the Rock na Ilha festival. It took place last Saturday, November 30th, with gates opening at 2pm on Ilha do Itanhangá – Barra da Tijuca, with a show by the band CPM22 and DIBOB.

The band

CPM 22 stands out as one of the most emblematic bands in Brazilian rock, recognized for a mix of melodic hardcore with lyrics that explore themes such as love, overcoming and youthful experiences. Created in 1995, in Barueri–SP, the band started playing in small shows and releasing independent recordings. The name, inspired by police radio codes, reflects its connection with urban everyday life.

The initial line-up included Badauí on vocals, Wally and Luciano on guitars, Portoga on bass and Japinha. Recognition came with the album CPM 22 (2001), which included “Regina Let's Go” and “Tarde de Otub” and “Tarde de Outubro”. It's Time to Start Over (“Days ago”). Over the years, CPM 22 accumulated classics such as “Um Minuto para o Fim do Mundo” and conquered.
