Alessia Cara faced mental health problems and used her third album as therapy. The 25-year-old Canadian singer wrote about her pains and joys over the past few months. In an interview with Quem magazine, she talks about how her mental health impacted her creativity.
''I was at the worst level of mental health in my life a few months ago…After getting the appropriate help, over time, I got better. I'm not perfect, but I feel a lot better. I'm not in that place where I thought I was going to be stuck forever. I hope I can be an example for people who are struggling with this, to know that everything gets better''says Alessia.
''In the beginning, it was difficult for me to even compose anything. I couldn't even get out of bed and do something. I wasn't eating, I wasn't sleeping. After a while, writing kind of became a necessity for me. I had these feelings stored away for a long time and I needed to get them out of me. If not, I would continue to suffer. I wrote a lot and it affected the way I compose because I forced myself to be extremely honest without worrying about the final product. completed.

Alessia also commented on the impact of the song on the lives of her fans. ''Life is difficult and it's very strange to be alive, to be human. Nobody knows what is right or wrong, we are placed in the world and we are expected to live life! It is difficult! Things are always changing and life always throws things at you that are difficult. But the important thing is to know that we are not alone. And everything passes. It's amazing to hear that (that your music helps people). We tend to think that we are alone when we deal with problems. Even me, when I go through something, I feel alone, like no one will understand me. When they tell me this, I realize how similar we all are and how we have to support each other. It means a lot to me that my pain and self-expression can help other people with their own pain.
The album, which should be released in 2021, explores different emotions and sounds. ''There are many experiments you have heard from me before. It's a time capsule of the last year and a half and my other projects. The way I produced it, I experienced a lot more. I didn't limit myself. It's quite colorful, even though it's not the happiest album, because there's a lot of heavy stuff on it, I think the way I created it was really cool. I'm very proud. Life is very short. It's a cliché to say this, but if there's anything this last year has shown, it's that nothing is guaranteed. I'd rather try and fail than not try. I prefer that to being older and thinking, 'Wow, I could have done that.' If you fail, you failed and learned. There is nothing bad that can come from learning''.

Kanye West gives another great audition, but still doesn't release the album 'Donda'
The artist talks about the direct influence of bossa nova on her new album. ''I listen to a lot of older artists…I need to update myself on new artists from Brazil. I love Rodrigo Amarante's songs, his latest project is so good. It's so cool. I would love to do something with him. I love the culture, the food, the language. I can't wait to visit Brazil. My Brazilian fans are probably like 90% of my fanbase! Everyone is so kind to me! They are incredible, passionate. My fanbase wouldn't be the same without them. They are so funny''.
