MGK and Willow travel to the early 2000s

Singer Machine Gun Kelly released, last Friday (04), in collaboration with WILLOW, the single “Emo Girl”, which will be on the singer's next album, entitled “Mainstream Sellout”. The album is scheduled to be released on March 25th, the same day as Lollapalooza Brasil. Until last week, the album was called “Born with Horns”.

The song, with lively rhythms that mix pop and punk, seems to have come from an album from the early 2000s, bringing inspirations like Blink-182, when singing: “I fell in love with an emo girl/All I want is an emo girl.” MGK had shown 15 seconds of the song on his TikTok profile, which led many fans to think that the name of the single would be: “Cherry Red Lipstick”, as the previously released excerpt was: “She's a monster in disguise and she knows every word to the trap song/Takes pictures with her cherry red lipstick”.

“Emo Girl” is the artist's first single of 2022 and follows “Papercuts”, released in August. He also appeared on Iann Dior and Travis Barker's single “Thought it Was”, which was released last month. With WILLOW, the single arrived after she and Travis Barker ended 2021 with the remix of “Transparent Soul”, with Kid Cudi. She released the fourth album of her career, “Lately I Feel Everything”, in the middle of last year.

“Mainstream Sellout”, the sixth album in Machine Gun Kelly's career, arrives after the artist's acclaimed last album, “Tickets to My Downfall”. Released in September 2020, it brought hits such as “bloody valentine” and “my ex's best friend”, in partnership with blackbear. MGK has been venturing into the rock genre and achieving important achievements, such as the award for “Best Rock Album” and “Greatest Rock Artist” at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards.
