Mortal Kombat 1 launches Cyrax and brings more chaos with expansion
– All in one GAME updates, New game release, 2024 games, upcoming games, trending games, latest discovery and game reviews.
And look, this cyber warrior didn't come to play around; she brought saws, explosives and a “don't mess with me” attitude that will leave her adversaries with digital nightmares.
Cyrax: The New Addition to the MK1 Cast – And What an Addition!
So who is this Cyrax guy? If you're a longtime Mortal Kombat fan, the name should ring a bell. But this time, the story is a little different. In the reimagined universe of Mortal Kombat 1Cyrax is a young Lin Kuei warrior from the Zaki clan, who was recruited directly by Sektor, that guy who, if he were a boss, would give you nightmares even in real life. Cyrax has everything to be the perfect soldier – agile, lethal and equipped with the latest in cybernetic technology. But, of course, this perfection comes with a price: she is not the type to follow orders blindly. If she has to do things her way, she will do it, and may the Old Gods have mercy on anyone who tries to stop her.
In the new trailer, we see Cyrax in action, and what action! She uses her technology to perform breathtaking aerial attacks, agile dodges that would make any fighting character think twice before approaching, and of course, her trademark: the energy nets that immobilize opponents, in addition to her spinning saws that turn anyone into fighter sushi. And if that's not enough to impress, the trailer also shows her Animalitya brutal finishing move where Cyrax transforms into a giant wasp – because nothing says “Game Over” like being devoured by a giant cybernetic insect.
Kaos Reigns: Expansion to Make Halloween Even Scarier
And what would become of a launch of Mortal Kombat without a nightmare-inducing expansion? Mortal Kombat 1: Chaos Reigns promises to bring a new layer of anarchy to the game, with a narrative that explores the delicate balance between peace and chaos. And since we're talking about Mortal Kombat, you can already imagine that this balance is maintained by a thread – and a very sharp thread, at that.
The expansion not only introduces new chapters in the game's cinematic story, but also adds six new playable characters. In addition to Cyrax, fans will be able to get their hands on Sector, Noob Saibot and of course the guest fighters that everyone loves to see (and some hate to face): Ghostface of the franchise Panic, T-1000 of Terminator 2and Conan the Barbarian. Yes, you read that right. Conan the Barbarian is going to be in Mortal Kombat. Someone tell Arnold he's going to need a new arsenal?
Kollection: Because More is Always Better
Now, whether you're new to the series or simply want it all at once, Warner Bros. has an offer you won't want to miss: the Mortal Kombat 1: Kaos Kollection Reigns. Available for pre-order, this special edition includes the base game Mortal Kombat 1the previous Kombat Pack, and 1,250 Dragon Krystals (because everyone needs some virtual currency to spend), plus immediate access to the expansion Chaos Reigns at launch on September 24th.
And as the cherry on top of the bloody cake, anyone who pre-orders will also get four new character skins, including Scorpion Wedding (because even ninjas need to get married in style), Empress Mileenaand the classic versions of Sub-Zero and Noob Saibot of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. If you're one of those who likes to show off in a fight, this is your chance to shine – or rather, bleed with style.
A Little History of Mortal Kombat: The Blood Runs in the Veins of This Franchise
For the newbies who just arrived, Mortal Kombat is one of the most iconic and bloodthirsty fighting game franchises of all time. First released in 1992, the game quickly gained notoriety (and a spot on the list of most controversial games) for its violent finishing scenes, known as Fatalities. But make no mistake, Mortal Kombat isn't all blood and guts – it's a series with a rich narrative and characters that have become legends in the gaming world.
Over time, Mortal Kombat has evolved, incorporating new mechanics, cutting-edge graphics, and of course, more ways to make your friends cry when you get a Brutality perfect. The release of Mortal Kombat 1 brought a reimagined universe, where fire gods and mortal warriors face off in an endless battle for control of the MultiVerse.
Deadly Curiosity: The Origin of Animalities
An interesting curiosity is that the Animalities – those finishing moves where the fighter transforms into an animal to destroy the opponent – were first introduced in Mortal Kombat 3. The idea came about as a way to expand on the game's already iconic finishes, offering players a new way to humiliate their opponents (as if the Fatalities weren't enough). Now, with the arrival of Cyrax and his Animality of wasp, it seems that the Animalities are coming back with everything, to the joy of the most sadistic fans.
So, get ready! Mortal Kombat 1: Chaos Reigns arrives on September 24th and promises to make the MultiVerse more chaotic than ever!
