Murillo, new member of the Brazilian national team attracts interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona

New among those called up by coach Dorival Júnior, for the World Cup qualifying games, against the teams of Venezuela and Uruguay, the 22-year-old defender of the English team Nottingham Forest, is the latest interest of two great Spanish teams, the Real Madrid and Barcelona.

European clubs Chelsea and Juventus also show interest in the Brazilian defender. Due to a knee injury to Éder Militão, Real Madrid would be the club most interested in signing Murilo for the season. According to the European press, the English team can negotiate the player for a price of 40 million euros (R$244 million).

Nottingham Forest highlights

In 2023, the defender revealed by the Corinthians youth teams, was traded for 12 million euros (around R$73 million) to the English club Nottingham Forest.

“I'm really excited to be joining Nottingham Forest. It's a great club, with a great fan base, and I can't wait to start playing at the City Ground. The Premier League is the best league in the world, so I can't wait to be tested and give my all for this club”said Murillo upon being hired.

Due to his performance and technical skills on the field, Murillo has been one of the main players on the European team in the last two seasons. On Sunday (10), the Brazilian jewel scored his first goal in a game for the English Championship. His good performances have also earned him several awards, such as the club's best player of the month.

The career

The defender entered professional football in 2023, after playing 36 games in 2022, being a standout for Timão's under-20 team, scoring four goals. Under the command of Brazilian coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo, the player played 27 matches, scoring one goal.

“We accept to follow his career and, automatically, we leave a little of ours aside. It's nice to see him grow and help, but I think the hardest part is leaving his things aside, going to another country, being away from our family. It’s all very new and it happens so quickly that you don’t realize it,” said Mabili Coladello, Murillo's wife, to the CNN Brasil television channel.

When he was called up for the first time to play for the Brazilian team, Murillo says he felt accomplished. The defender has only 74 games as a professional.
