“Nerd” lifestyle aesthetic conquers the catwalks and social networks
– Fashion news update, latest outfit for winter, summer. etc. latest fashion shows and entertainment series.

With the force of “quiet luxury” taking over the catwalks since last year, the “nerdy” style has also been standing out on the catwalks and on social media. But when talking about “nerd”, forget the graphic prints of games and drawings, and think more about a polished and sober aesthetic. Understand now how the “nerdy” style has dominated and won over people.

From a more casual style to a more polished style

“Quiet luxury” gained momentum last year and won’t go out of fashion anytime soon. With it, more serious looks gained strength. When we talk about a more “nerdy” style, we are talking about something that, in the 1980s and 1990s, was somewhat pejorative. Think of some stereotypes from films and series, where a character would wear more serious clothes, large glasses, vests, V or higher cashmere collars, printed ties and buttons. This aesthetic has had several names, including “CLT core”, and are more straight-laced looks, which many people consider to be “office wear”.

This reference from the 1990s has been gaining more and more strength among people, with more closed and sober tones, such as brown, gray and black. The pieces are varied, from cashmere to tailoring, in an allusion to clothes used in offices. Several brands also showed this style on the catwalks, such as Prada in its men's show, where we saw a lot of button-down shirts, ties, vests and sweaters.

CLT Core trend or “nerdy” lifestyle

This style seeks to enhance and bring clothes that are most used in offices to other occasions, such as parties. The style also proposes a more minimalist look. This became even stronger with the return of nostalgia for the 1990s, especially on the catwalks. In the autumn/winter 2023 collection show, the Italian brand Miu Miu showed this on the catwalks, and later, by bringing back another trend of the time: the Regard glasses frame, one of the brand's best-selling ones, which has the thickest frame and in turtle format. With this return, brands are bringing back not only cashmere, sweaters and vests, but also tailoring pieces – such as pencil skirts – and even sneakers. Pieces that, despite their more sober and “serious” tone, bring comfort and allow for infinite different combinations.
