Brazilian actress Paolla Oliveira, known for her prominent roles in TV Globo productions, is starting a new chapter in her career. After 18 years of dedication to the leading broadcaster in Brazil, Paolla was dismissed in December last year, but it didn't take long to find a new path. She signed a contract with Netflix to star in the second season of the Portuguese series “Mar Branco”, also known by its original title “Rabo de Peixe”.
Paolla announced the news on her social networks, sharing with her followers the joy of joining the production's cast. “Happy to announce that I am officially in the cast of the 2nd season of 'Rabo de Peixe”the actress wrote on Instagram. The enthusiasm is palpable, and expectations for the new work are high, given Paolla's track record of success in soap operas such as “A Força do Querer” (2017) and “A Dona do Pedaço” (2019).
Recordings in the Azores
The series is being filmed in the Azores archipelago, in Portugal. Paolla has already shared some behind-the-scenes moments on her social networks, showing herself excited about the new challenge. This is the first time that the actress has worked outside Brazil, and she is excited about the opportunity to explore new horizons in her international career.
In April, Paolla had already intrigued her followers by posting a reflection on new beginnings during a visit to Braga, Portugal. “I'm on my way to my first day of work after 18 years”he stated at the time. His message brought to light the importance of allowing oneself to be vulnerable in the face of new challenges and using work as part of one's personal identity.

“Mar Branco” is based on a true story that occurred in 2001, when a shipment of cocaine sank on the small island of Azores, Portugal. Local residents, unaccustomed to the purity of the drug, experimented and many overdosed, leading to a community tragedy. The series portrays this impactful event, bringing an intense and dramatic narrative to the screen.
The plot revolves around Eduardo, played by José Condessa, who sees the residents' chemical dependency as an opportunity to get rich through cocaine trafficking. In addition to Paolla Oliveira and José Condessa, the cast includes names such as Helena Caldeira, Kelly Bailey, Rodrigo Tomás, Albano Jerónimo, Pépé Rapazote, Maria João Bastos, José Afonso Dias Pimentel, Daniela Ruah and Romeu Bairos.
Paolla Oliveira, alongside this talented cast, promises to bring a new dimension to the series, which has already gained a considerable fan base. The expectation is that the second season of “Mar Branco” will continue to explore human dilemmas and conflicts in a deep and realistic way, with the participation of the Brazilian actress adding even more shine to the production.
Paolla Oliveira's debut in the Netflix series represents not only a milestone in her career, but also the growing influence of Brazilian actors on the international stage. With talents like Paolla venturing beyond national borders, global audiences have the opportunity to further appreciate the diversity and quality of Latin American productions.
