Due to the bombings, the evacuation of civilians was again difficult. In Izyum, near Kharkov, the evacuations had to be stopped altogether, according to the regional governor. Also in Mariupol people were trapped by bombings.

Some 100,000 people were evacuated from Sumy, Enerhodar and the Kiev area in recent days, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

The number of Ukrainians who have since fled the country rose to more than 2.5 million, according to the United Nations.

The consequences of the war are also becoming increasingly visible on the internet. For example, YouTube worldwide immediately blocks channels that have ties to russian state-funded media. The reason for this is the denial or watering down of violent actions by the Russian army in Ukraine.

For the same reason, Twitter previously deleted messages from Russian accounts and also shows tweets from Belarusian state media less often.
