Newborn twin son Cristiano Ronaldo passed away
The newborn son of Cristiano Ronaldo has died. The five-time World Footballer of the Year and his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez were expecting twins, but only their daughter survived the birth.
“It is with great sadness that we have to announce that our son has died,” Ronaldo said in a statement on Monday. “It’s the biggest pain you can feel as a parent. Only the birth of our girl gives us the strength to keep going.”
The 37-year-old striker of Manchester United writes that he and Rodriguez are “devastated by the loss”. The couple will ask for privacy in the coming period.
“Our son, you are an angel and we will always love you,” Ronaldo concludes the statement. In it, he thanks the doctors and nurses for their support.
