NIGERIA Our Father Land Or That Of Strangers
By Mary Emmanuel
The present condition of our great father land, Nigeria has left me speechless and the thought that keeps crossing my mind was that of my father land. I just could not help but think of a way to relieve myself of the burdens that weighs my heart and the plenty questions running through my mind.
You will agree with me that everyday we wakeup with one or two news on the sad event that took place during the cause of the night. People now go to bed with the intention of waiting to hear the next bad news. We can imagine what our great father land is turning into, I can’t help but wonder which way the country is going.
Where exactly are all of these strange things coming from?. Was this not the peaceful country that was handed over to us by our forefathers who fought for our interest with their blood? Can we say that their fight and struggle to give us peaceful and loving Nigeria all in vain.
I know fully well that I was not born then but I’ve heard stories of how people lived peacefully, ate from each other’s pot, drank water from the same cup, laughed and played together. But presently, the reverse seems to be the case. As people don’t know who is waiting to claim the next persons life or fear of the unknown.
These strangers who have succeeded in turning our father land into something else, has left a lot of people wondering if this is still their father land. Talk about the herdsmen, who go into people’s farm to kill them and equally destroy their farm produce. I still can not help but ask, how and when did we get here? Most wives are now windows and their children, fatherless.
Boko_ Haram (NIGERIA Our Father Land Or That Of Strangers)
Talk about the Boko_ Haram, bomb blast, here today and there tomorrow. Kidnapping is also one of the stranger that has entered our great father land and it has faithfully delivered people into the hands of fear. Many people can no longer travel because they do not know what awaits them on their way.
The economy sector and educational system is one that i must not forget to mention. Recently, we have had Instances where people complain of the economy system of the country. The price of foodstuffs are said to be soaring high to the heavens everywhere. If things are like this, what happens to those families or individuals who struggle to feed once daily before now. Guess they will starve. The poor masses are getting poorer while the rich are becoming richer.
The education system (NIGERIA Our Father Land Or That Of Strangers)
The education system is one of the vital part of any country because it helps to prepare the leaders of tomorrow. But what happens, when these future leaders are being abducted and killed by some set of unknown gunmen. Parents are now scared of sending their wards to school because they don’t know the next news.
Everyday, I come across people who will bluntly deny me the access of discussing any issue that has to do with this country. They even go as far as saying that they have nothing to do with this country , others will say that they are not from this country. Do we simply say that they have lost hope or they are just being biased?
Where exactly have we failed or where did we miss it? Where did we go wrong that we can no longer move freely, sleep well with our two eyes well closed, travel without the fear of being abducted or send our children to school with smiles on our faces with a peaceful heart. When will all of these happen again.?
Despite all of these life threatening issues, I am sure that this darkness that is gradually eating up our joy and freedom will definitely not remain the same way. I’m certain that there will be light at the end of the tunnel, the light will shine on our father land and all of these strangers will disappear. Then you and I will boldly beat our chest once again to say that we love our father land Nigeria!
