One For Them After Renewal Announcement

After confirming the second season of “Minx: One For Them”, HBO Max canceled the airing of the series this Monday (12). According to information published by the magazine Deadlinethe series starring Ophelia Lovibond and Jake Johnson returned to filming in March this year and is in its last week of recording. Production will be completed as scheduled, but HBO Max will not show the new episodes, as well as removing the first season from the catalog. The producer Lionsgate Entertainment reported that it plans to find a new buyer for all episodes.

The series is set in the city of Los Angeles during the 1970s, when journalist Joyce (Lovibond) decides to edit an erotic magazine aimed at a female audience and, to do so, needs to team up with Doug Renetti (Johnson). “Minx” drew attention due to the presentation of frontal nudes, mainly of male actors, something that is still difficult to see on American television. The series was created by Ellen Rapoport and produced by Paul Feig and Dan Magnante. The cast also includes Idara Victor, Jessica Lowe, Lennon Parham, Michael Angarano and Oscar Montoya.

THE LionsgateTV said in an official statement: “We've had a great partnership with HBO Max and are working closely to find a new opportunity for Minx so current and new viewers can continue this journey with us”. The cancellation of the series is attributed to the president of Warner Bros. discovery, David Zaslav, who took over the company with the promise of cutting expenses over the next three years of around 3.5 billion dollars, the equivalent of 18.5 billion reais.

In addition to “Minx: One For Them”, last year's DC Cinematic Universe film, “Batgirl”, the animated series “Little Ellen” from HBO Max, the reality show “The Big D” and the second season of “Chad” from the TBS channel were also canceled by the company's new president. The platform streaming also removed the original comedy series “The Chronicles of Cucu”. It is estimated that more changes will need to be made by the end of 2022 and the company promises more cancellations.
