Oscars 2023: Actress Michelle Yeoh’s dress was ready in 600 hours and the price is unbelievable

Michelle, winner of the Oscar 2023 in the category of best actress, is known worldwide for roles in films such as 007 – Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), yes madam (1985) and The Tiger and the Dragon (2000).

The Asian actress competed and took the award statuette for her work in Everything Everywhere at the Same Time, in which she plays a Chinese immigrant. The moment was considered historic for the world of cinema, as it had been about 21 years since only white actresses were awarded in this category.

The Malay-Chinese woman stole the show, both for her award and for the beautiful look she wore: a white dress, worked with embroidery, tulle and feathers, signed by the beloved French designer Christian Dior.

The dress was created especially for Yehoh and was designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, the brand’s creative director.

The dress is long and has a beautiful train, tulle in the neck area and numerous details in embroidery along its length. Another point that drew a lot of attention in the piece were the feathers, individually attached to the dress, placed in layers, giving it a unique and stunning fit, worthy of an Oscar winner!

With so much detail, it is not surprising that it took 600 hours to make the complete model, approximately 400 hours for the model and about 450 hours to finish the embroidery and feather details. The piece was still valued at approximately $58,000.

The first Asian in history to receive such a famous award in this category gave a beautiful speech, visibly moved by the award, and even reinforced that she hopes that this achievement will be inspiration and hope for the Asian population, often discriminated against in the West, saying “This is a beacon of hope and possibility. It is proof that dreams come true. dream big.”
