Pedro and Gabigol have confirmed injuries and the duo will only return to action in September

Forwards Pedro and Gabigol underwent medical examinations on Friday afternoon (16) and had their thigh injuries confirmed. Both suffered from the same problem in the victory against Bolívar last Thursday, at Maracanã.

With the injuries confirmed, the duo will only return to the field in September, meaning they will both miss the second leg of the round of 16 of the Libertadores and three rounds of the Brasileirão (Botafogo, Bragantino and Corinthians), in addition to the first leg of the Copa do Brasil. The club's medical department will work to ensure that the players are available for the second leg of the quarterfinals of the Copa do Brasil, which will take place the week of September 11.

Similar injuries

The two injuries suffered by the players were very similar: Pedro felt the hamstring of his left thigh and Gabigol felt the hamstring of his right thigh. According to the medical department, Pedro's injury was a little milder and the recovery time is a little shorter: two to three weeks. Gabigol's injury is approximately one month.

The starting striker felt pain in his thigh in the 35th minute of the first half, shortly after assisting Luiz Araújo to score the first goal of the game. Gabigol came on in his place, but at the end of the match, after trying to make a run down the sidelines, the number 99 also left the field.

There will be a FIFA Date in the first week of September, which will halt the Brazilian football calendar, which will help Flamengo recover its players for the return leg of the national competition. Flamengo will find out its opponent in a draw next Tuesday.
