Petrobras begins hiring companies for the “Sergipe Águas Profundas” project

Petrobras (PETR4) began the process of hiring companies to build up to two oil production units for the project Sergipe Águas Profundas (SEAP)in the Sergipe Basin, in Alagoas.

The contracted platform will be responsible for the construction, assembly and operation of the project for an initial period defined in the contract. In the future, operations will be carried out by Petrobras.

The project Sergipe Águas Profundas aims to explore oil and natural gas for Brazil in fields discovered in the depths of the waters off the coast of Sergipe.

Bidding process

The project foresees a bidding process for a firm unit for SEAP 2 and an option to acquire a second similar FPSO, with application expected for SEAP 1. The estimate is that the unit (SEAP 2) will begin operations in 2030.

The units will have the capacity to process up to 120 thousand barrels (bpd) of oil and up to 12 million m3 of natural gas daily. In the case of gas, it will be specified and exported directly for sale, without the need for additional treatment on land.

Petrobras reported in a publication on the official website that it continues to make efforts to develop projects aimed at the economy, since the units are strategic in expanding the availability of natural gas and oil in Brazil.

Sergipe Águas Profundas

THE Sergipe Águas Profundas is a project that aims to explore oil and natural gas in fields discovered in ultra-deep waters, off the coast of Sergipe. In addition, the asset will have a gas pipeline.

The SEAP 1 project covers the deposits relevant to the Agulhinha, Agulhinha Oeste, Cavala and Palombeta fields, located in the BM-SEAL-10 and BM-SEAL-11 units.

The SEAP 2 proposal covers the mines in the Budião, Budião Noroeste and Budião Sudeste areas, located in the BM-SEAL-4, BM(1)SEAL-4A and BM-SEAL-10 concessions.
