Philip K. Dick to get biopic

Writer Philip K. Dick, known for his science fiction works, will be getting a biopic that mixes reality and paranoia. Producer Jon Shestack is still looking for a director for the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The production will adapt the biography Only Apparently Real (“Only Apparently Real”), written by the author's friend and estate owner, Paul Williams. The film's script will be under the care of newcomer Michael Ritcher, who left law to write and produce the film.

In addition to literature, Dick's life was marked by delusional situations, involving excessive use of hard drugs. This addiction caused hallucinations in the author's mind, reaching a point where he began to believe he was living in two different timelines at the same time. The film will highlight one case, in which the author's house was invaded. To this day, it is not clear what happened in the episode, whether it really happened or was just a delusion.

Philip K. Dick's works were popularized by their film adaptations, such as Blade Runner- The Android Hunter (1982), Total Recall (1990) It is Minority Report (2002).

Dick is considered one of the greatest authors of science fiction literature. Among his many books and short stories, he became famous for bringing philosophical, political and social issues to his work. In his work, he used approaches that had mystical and fantastical elements, which mixed technology, nature, reality and madness. Although his works are now classics of literature, during his lifetime he received only one Hugo Award and a few Nebula nominations. It was only after 1982, when he died prematurely from a heart attack at the age of 53, that his work began to gain due prominence due to Hollywood productions.

The film still has no official date for when filming will begin.
