PlayStation Plus has been renewed – The renewed subscription service PlayStation Plus has been available in the Netherlands since Thursday. Sony’s service now offers multiple levels at different prices. In this article we explain the differences.

PlayStation Plus is Sony’s service for its PlayStation game consoles. There are now three levels: Essential, Extra and Premium.

PlayStation Plus Essential is the cheapest option at 8.99 euros per month or 59.99 euros per year. This variant therefore has the least extras. With Essential, you get access to online multiplayer (for games that aren’t free to play, like Fortnite), discounts on PlayStation Store, and access to two PS4 games and a PS5 game every month.

Slightly more expensive is PlayStation Plus Extra. For this you pay 13.99 euros per month or 99.99 euros per year. You’ll get everything in the Essential package and access to a catalogue of hundreds of PS4 and PS5 games.

These are playable on the console after downloading.

The list of PS4 and PS5 games includes Bloodborne, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn and Red Dead Redemption 2. On the PlayStation website, they are all mentioned.

PlayStation Plus Premium costs 16.99 euros per month or 119.99 euros per year and offers the most features. This package contains everything from Essential and Plus.

It also gives subscribers access to game demos, so that they have already been able to play a bit before purchasing a new game. The progress in those demos is carried over to the full versions of the games.

In addition, Premium members get access to many classic games, which previously appeared for the PS1, PS2 and PS3. They also get access to some titles that came out on the handheld PSP.

On the PlayStation website, all classic titles are listed. These include Ape Escape, Syphon Filter, Tekken 2, Ico and Infamous.
