Putin thinks it is too early to talk to Zelensky
Russian President Vladimir Putin thinks it is still too early to schedule a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky. Putin was briefed by the Kremlin on Tuesday about peace negotiations held on Monday and said it was too early to draw any conclusions.
The Kremlin said in a statement that it considers Zelensky the “legitimate president of Ukraine”. So all final peace talks would ultimately go through Putin and Zelensky, the Kremlin says.
Moscow also uses the statement to deny some allegations. For example, Russia is accused of using so-called vacuum bombs . These are explosives that are much more powerful than other bombs and cause a lot of damage in cities.
The bombs, which are prohibited by the Geneva Conventions, suck the air from the environment and cause a huge pressure wave.

The Russians are dismissing the allegations as “fake news”. The country would also not be behind rocket attacks that hit civilian targets in Kiev and Kharkov. In the latter major city, cruise missiles exploded in residential areas and on the city government building.
It is not clear how many people were killed, but the Ukrainian Ministry of the Interior reports at least 10 people dead and 35 injured.
The Kremlin claims “nationalist groups” were behind the attack, but provides no evidence to back that claim.
Finally, Moscow reports that the sanctions imposed by the west do not change whether or not the invasion of Ukraine continues. “We will remain in Ukraine until all goals are achieved,” Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu said.
