Qmusic must stop with dance music programs,

Qmusic has to stop with its new dance programming on Saturday nights. That is what the court of Amsterdam decided on Tuesday. The radio station was dragged to court by event organizer Q-dance.

According to Q-dance, Qmusic would violate a settlement from 2005 by programming programs specifically dedicated to dance music.

That settlement was reached after the event organizer had indicated that the names Q-dance and Qmusic are too similar.

In the end, the two parties came to an agreement that the radio station could simply be called Qmusic, but only if the station would not actively promote dance music. Qmusic does not adhere to that agreement sufficiently, according to Q-dance.

With a new show full of dance music on Saturday, the station would violate the agreements. The judge agrees with Q-dance.
