Reese Witherspoon officially divorces and claims “irreconcilable differences”

Just days after announcing her separation from husband Jim Toth, Oscar-winning actress and female empowerment icon Reese Witherspoon officially filed for divorce, after almost 12 years of marriage.

According to sources for TMZ, the separation was motivated by “irreconcilable differences“, but, at least for now, we don't know what these differences actually mean. What we do know, however, is that the former couple signed a prenup in 2011, which should make things considerably easier. But First of all, they will have to decide issues relating to custody, as they have a son together, little 10-year-old Tennessee.

Although Reese and Jim have always been private about their personal lives, they released an emotional statement on social media about their difficult decision to separate. On the 24th, they emphasized the importance of “love, kindness and mutual respect” during this difficult time, especially for his son Tennessee: “we have some personal news to share. It is with great care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to separate. We have enjoyed so many incredible years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness, and mutual respect for all we have created together. Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter. These matters are never easy and are extremely personal. We truly appreciate everyone's respect for our family's privacy at this time”. Either way, we wish Reese and his family the best, and that everything resolves amicably.

Despite everything, it looks like Reese won't let the split affect her career. She has been an active producer and just finished the third season of “The Morning Show“, in which he stars alongside none other than Jennifer Aniston. With a prominent career in Hollywood, Reese Witherspoon has been a role model for many women around the world.
