Elton John turns 75 this Friday (25); On his birthday, remember the pop star's career spanning more than 5 decades, which forever marked an entire generation.

“I feel incredibly lucky that, at 75, I still love what I do so much; feeling so stimulated by music and happy to play it, listen to it and talk about it every day”, declared the star.

Reginald Dwight (known by his stage name Elton Hercules John), was born on March 25, 1947, in the suburbs of London, United Kingdom. He is a British pianist, singer, composer and producer. He met his best friend, Bernie Taupin, in 1967 and since then he has been composing for the singer, songs that have become a huge success all over the world.

A great example of this partnership is the classic composition “Your Song”, which they did when they were still living together in Elton’s family house. The duo has a total of more than 40 albums produced. “Mr. Elton John” has sold more than 300 million records internationally.

Among one of the many records he has already achieved is the fact that he spent 31 consecutive years (1970-2000) with at least one song on the Billboard Hot 100, showing how memorable he is in the history of pop music.

In 1998, a year after the death of her dear friend, Princess Diana, to whom she paid a special tribute by singing the re-recording “Candle in The Wind” (which was initially a tribute to the late actress Marilyn Monroe) at his wake, the pop star was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II due to his contribution to her art and his involvement in the fight against AIDS.

In his personal life, in 1988 he declared himself gay to the public and since the mid-90s he has lived with his current husband, David Furnish, father of his two sons, Zachary and Elijah, born through a surrogate mother; Zachary in 2010 and Elijah in 2013.

For his birthday, Ecad (Central Collection and Distribution Office) carried out a survey to find out his biggest successes here in Brazil. The hits that top Brazilian radio are: “Nikita”, “Sacrifice”, “Skyline Pigeon” and “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart”all written next to Bernie.

Currently, he has stood out for his feats with young singers Dua Lipa, Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga, who is also the godmother of his eldest son. Your collaboration in “Cold Heart” with Dua, reached No. 1 on the UK singles chart, and around here it continues to be played on the radio.
