Rock in Rio announces shows by Avanged Sevenfold, Evanescence and Journey

Rock in Rio announced last Thursday night (25th), the attractions that will be part of the line-up on September 15th this year. The headliner chosen to compose the “rock day” will be Avanged Sevenfold, and the bands will also be on the World stage Journey and Evanescence.

The “rock day”

Amid many complaints from the public about the lack of rock, a genre present in all previous editions of Rock in Rio, the festival announced that the Californian band Avanged Sevenfold will be responsible for closing and headlining the 15th of September. On the same night, the festival welcomes the bands Evanscence and Journey.

Evanscence, a group led by Amy Lee, already performed at the festival in 2011, on the same night that Detonautas, Pitty, System Of A Down and Guns N' Roses played. They were also confirmed for Rock in Rio Lisboa, which takes place in June and celebrates 10 years this year. This will be the seventh time that the band will come to Brazil, the last time was last year, when they did a promising tour that passed through several cities in the country.

Journey came to the country only once in 2011, when they made a unique performance at the now-defunct Via Funchal, promoting the album “Eclipse”, which was only released two months later.

Avanged Sevenfold, in turn, has been to Brazil four times, the last being at Rock in Rio 2013, when they played on the same day as the bands Kiara Rocks, Slayer and Iron Maiden.

Sunset Stage

The Sunset Stage, a secondary stage of the festival, was also not left out. The English band Deep Purple and the Californian band were confirmed Incubus.

Deep Purple made their last visit to Brazil last year, during their participation in the Monsters Of Rock festival, held in São Paulo. Incubus, on the other hand, participated in Rock in Rio 2017, on the same night as Titãs, The Who and Guns N' Roses.

Also confirmed on the Sunset stage were shows by the band Barão Vermelho, which recently ended its 40th anniversary tour, and the presentation that will unite the group Planet Hemp with Bahian singer Pitty.

Official ticket sales take place on May 23rd at 7pm, with pre-sales for Rock in Rio Club and Itaú customers between May 14th and 22nd.
