Roger Machado celebrates Inter's victory over Juventude

On Wednesday (14), Inter beat Juventude at Beira-Rio by 2-1 in a comeback, in a delayed match, valid for the sixth round of the Brazilian Championship. Roger Machado's team entered the field under pressure due to a 12-game winless streak, seeing the situation become even more uncomfortable when they missed a penalty in the 25th minute, and thus fell behind in the first half's injury time, when Juventude opened the scoring with Nenê, however, in the 11th minute of the second half, Thiago Maia took advantage of the opponent's poor exit to equalize, then, in the final stretch of the match, debutant Bruno Tabata grabbed the rebound from another missed penalty to turn the game around and decree the victory for the red team.

After the final whistle, Inter's coach celebrated the result in a press conference, praising the performance of the squad in general and pointing out the team's continuous evolution: “Today’s match, despite all the defeats, was the most consistent so far. We’ve been noticing the improvement. I’ve been talking to the players. I tend to be a realistic professional. The performance in the last few games has improved even without the victories. We’re looking to expand the window of good performances.”commented Roger Machado.

With the victory, Inter is breathing in the table, in 12th place, with 25 points, just like Juventude, but ahead on goal difference. The distance to the relegation zone is four points, the first team inside the relegation zone is Corinthians, with 21.

Now, Inter and Juventude return to the field on Sunday (18) for the 23rd round of the Brazilian Championship. Colorado goes to the Antônio Accioly Stadium to face Atlético-GO at 4 pm, while Juventude visits Athletico-PR at 6:30 pm at Ligga Arena.
