Sabrina Carpenter releases Christmas album before shows in Brazil

Sabrina Carpenter announced this Wednesday (08) on her Instagram the Christmas EP, “Fruitcake”, which will be released on November 17th with six songs. The artist, who already performed in Brazil in 2017, opening for Ariana Grande, and at the MITA Festival in June, returns to open for Taylor Swift's “The Eras Tour” in Brazil.

The shows take place at the Nilton Santos Stadium, in Rio de Janeiro, on November 18th and 19th, and at Allianz Parque, in São Paulo, between November 24th and 26th. At the MITA Festival Sabrina was warm to Brazilian fans and joked: “I came to do a show, but I also came for the brigadeiro.”

Singer and actress

The American singer and actress, whose full name is Sabrina Annlynn Carpenter, is just 24 years old and before her fame she used to publish covers on her YouTube channel. Sabrina became famous for her role “Girl Meets the World”from Disney Channel. After that, Sabrina played several roles outside of Disney, but was “Imperfect Dancer”, from Netflix, which made her stand out.

The “Fruitcake” EP is the fifth in Sabrina’s career. Previously she released: “Eyes Wide Open”, “Evolution”, “Singular: Act I” and “Singular: Act II”.

Controversial clip

His most recent music video, for the song “Feather”, generated controversy for being set in a church and displaying coffins representing the deaths of ex-boyfriends. In the video, Sabrina seduces and sings about breaking free. The administrator and priest of the “Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary” church, where the clip was filmed, in Brooklyn, New York, was removed from his duties following the controversy.

In a press release, Bishop Robert Brennan reported: “The priest did not follow the diocese's policies regarding filming inside the church, including a review of the scenes and script”.
