Celular Seguro is a system launched in 2023 by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, in partnership with the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) and Febraban, with the aim of combating cell phone robberies and thefts across the country.

With the software, it is possible to block the IMEI of a stolen cell phone, blocking the phone line, banking applications and other phone data in just a few steps, making the device useless.

This procedure can be done directly in the Celular Seguro application, available for Android and iPhone (iOS) cell phones and also in the web version. See below how to block your smartphone's IMEI if it is stolen.

What is IMEI and how to identify it

The International Mobile Equipment Identification (IMEI) is a unique 15-digit code that identifies the cell phone, and can be discovered by checking the sticker on the smartphone, on the device box or by dialing *#06#. However, if the cell phone has more than one SIM Card, each chip will have its IMEI code.

The process is the same on Android and iPhone (iOS) phones.

Time required: 10 minutes

  1. If you have not yet installed the Celular Seguro app, download it from your app store;

    Log in to your Gov.br account;

  2. After logging in, select “Register Occurrence”;

    Go to “My Phones”;

  3. Here, the numbers registered and linked to your CPF will appear;

    If you have more than one, choose the phone whose IMEI you want to block and tap “Alert”;

  4. Fill in the necessary information and click “Issue”;

    Ready! With this, the IMEI blocking will be confirmed.

How to unlock IMEI?

If the user recovers the smartphone blocked in the Celular Seguro application, Anatel's recommendation is to contact the operator to unblock the line, as the application does not allow deleting the registered incident.

Therefore, you have to go to the nearest physical store of your operator and ask the attendant to unlock the IMEI. This way you will regain access to your line.
