Sam Smith and Kim Petras Win with Unholy!

The big day has arrived! Today, February 5, 2023, the 65th Grammy Awards ceremony, the most traditional and important award ceremony in the music industry, is taking place. There are 91 categories in total, bringing together young and veteran artists from the market. The event is taking place live from the Crypto.com Arena, in Los Angeles, California, in the United States.

Sam Smith and Kim Petras won the “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance” category for their hit “Unholy.” With the win, Kim Petras becomes the first trans woman to win a Grammy.

In her acceptance speech for the gramophone, Kim thanked Madonna for fighting for the rights of the LGBTQIAP+ community: “I am the first trans woman to win this award. I want to thank all the trans legends who came before me. (…) Thank you Madonna, for fighting for LGBTQIA+ rights. I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you. Sam, I love you.”
