São Paulo extends advantage over Palmeiras in knockouts; look

With a new victory in the quarterfinals, the São Paulo eliminated the palm trees and qualified for the semifinals of the Copa do Brasil. The triumph on the night of last Thursday, the 13th, at Allianz Parque, further increased the Tricolor’s hegemony over its São Paulo rival in a knockout dispute.

Since 2019, São Paulo and Palmeiras have played six knockout rounds, with four rankings from Tricolor and two from Verdão. Overall, the alviverde team won at the Laudo Natel Tournament (1972), in the round of 16 of the Brazilian Championship (2000), in the semifinals of the Paulista Championship (2008), in the quarterfinals of the Libertadores (2021) and in the Paulistão final ( 2022).

São Paulo built the big difference with the victories in the Paulista final (1992), in the Paulista semifinal (1977 – first round, 79, 87 and 98), in the semifinal of the Supercampeonato Paulista (2002), in the semifinal of São Paulo (1998 and 2002), in the quarterfinals of the Copa do Brasil (2000) and in the round of 16 of the Libertadores (1994, 2005 and 2006).

In addition, Tricolor won the Paulistão semi (2019), the Paulistão final (2021), the eighth round of the Copa do Brasil (2022) and, more recently, the quarterfinals of the Copa do Brasil (2023).
