Scott Derrickson Responds to Denis Villeneuve: Doctor Strange is Marvel!

Scott Derrickson, the director of 'Doctor Strange', 'The Day the Earth Stood Still' and 'Sinister', seems to have taken issue with Denis Villeneuve's statement that “There are many Marvel movies that are nothing more than copy and paste from others”. Derrickson shared something he had already posted before on Twitter.

“As a director, I don't badmouth other directors' work even if I don't like something they've done. The job is hard enough for all of us, and no one is here trying to make a bad movie.”. And he even added “Time to bring this back here”.

And in another tweet the director made a more direct criticism of Scott Derrickson. “Anyone who goes around saying that all Marvel movies are the same either a) hasn't seen all the movies so shouldn't assume they're the same, or b) has seen all of them because hey, they kind of like watching Marvel movies.”.

Another person who came to the defense of Marvel films was director Neill Blomkamp, ​​who was responsible for films such as 'Chappie', 'District 9' and 'Elysium'. Also via Twitter, the director posted “what a jerk”

However, after that Blomkamp returned to Twitter again and stated that it was sarcasm. “Who destroyed whose films? It's sarcasm. I absolutely love Villeneuve”.

Denis Villeneuve is not the first nor the only one to criticize Marvel productions. Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Copolla and even Brazilian Fernando Meirelles are some of the names who have already gone public with negative comments about Marvel films.

Marvel still has two films to be released this year, 'Eternals' and 'Spider-Man: No Way Home', and 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' premiered earlier this month.
