See how the serial killer was caught!

Last Friday (25), Prime Video released a photo of actor Silvero Pereira in the role of Maniac do Parque. The film will tell the story of serial killer Francisco de Assis Pereira who, in the mid-90s, was convicted of attacking 21 women and murdering ten of them in Parque do Estado, in São Paulo. In the image released by streaming, the actor appears to be portrayed as Francisco during his arrest.

The protagonist Silvero Pereira has already acted in Rede Globo soap operas – such as “A Força do Querer” – and on the big screen, in the award-winning “Bacurau”. However, this will be your first “true crime”.

The cast also includes Giovanna Grigio, actress from Rebelde and Perdida, in the role of Elena – a beginner reporter who seeks to boost her career through the serial killer case -, Mel Lisboa – as psychiatrist Marta – and Christian Malheiros as Beto, a photo reporter.

In addition to these, Bruno Garcia will play the journalist Zico, while Bruna Mascarenhas will be Cristina – one of the victims of the Park Maniac – and Augusto Madeiro will be the deputy Medeiros.

Plot and direction

Scripted by LG Bayão and directed by the director of “The Boy Who Killed My Parents” Mauricio Eça, the film “Maniac do Parque” will take place during the World Cup in France, in 1998, and will tell how the motorcycle courier Francisco, became a serial killer, in addition to showing how he committed his crimes on the streets of São Paulo. The research used in the script is by investigative journalist Thaís Nunes.

The film will be released on Prime Video and is scheduled to premiere in 2024. This streaming service is also responsible for the documentary “The Park Maniac: The Untold Story”, which addresses the story from the perspective of the surviving victims and will show the role of media in this case.
