Selena Gomez declares that she feels “too old” for a music career

Last Wednesday (11), Variety did an interview with Selena Gomez and actress Saoirse Ronan (“A Glimpse of Paradise”), in which the two artists talked about some aspects of their personal lives and their most recent work. During the conversation, Selena opened up about how she feels in the world of pop music.

Career

When Ronan asks about Gomez's feelings towards music, Selena says that she will always have music in her life, but that she sees it more as a hobby, something to do for fun. She reveals that, although she enjoys creating music, as it is a way of telling her story and talking about herself honestly, her strong point is acting.

Selena comments that she is “too old” to be a pop music star, and that she has been very happy with what she has done at the moment, highlighting that she is just at the beginning of her career in the film world.

In September of this year, she was nominated for an Emmy Award for best actress for producing and starring in “Only Murders In the Building”, and won in the “Best Actress” category at the Cannes festival for her performance in “Emilia Perez“, the musical in which Selena was nominated for a Golden Globe alongside Ariana Grande.

Another work that featured Selena was “13 Reasons Why” (2017), a hit Netflix series, on which Gomez was one of the executive producers. She also voiced the character Mavis in the children's films “Hotel Transylvania”.

Selena's life

Selena Gomez's career began to take off at Disney in 2006, acting in children's series “Wizards of Waverly Place” and “Zack and Cody: Twins in Action”. She also starred alongside Demi Lovato in the film “Princess Protection Program”.

In 2016, she took a break from her music career to take care of her health: the singer was diagnosed with depression, anxiety and lupus.

After relationships with artists such as Justin Bieber and The Weeknd, Gomez began dating music producer Benny Blanco, to whom she recently became engaged.
