The sequel to the Final Fantasy VII remake from 2020 will be released at the end of next year for the PlayStation 5, reports developer Square Enix Friday. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be the second installment in the trilogy. No release date has been announced yet.
The story of the new game picks up where Final Fantasy VII Remake left off. What the story will look like is not yet known. The story of the trilogy differs from the original game from 1997.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will initially only be released for the PlayStation 5, but will probably also appear for PC later on. That was also the case with Final Fantasy VII Remake. Of those, the PC version came out in December 2021.
When the third and final part should appear is not yet known. Final Fantasy VII was released for the PlayStation in 1997 and is one of the most popular installments in the Final Fantasy series. It was the first part in the series that was playable in 3D.
