Shakira may be prosecuted for 14.5 million euros in tax evasion – Shakira is suspected of not having paid some 14.5 million euros to the Spanish tax authorities. The singer was told on Thursday that there is sufficient ground for a lawsuit.

Shakira has been living in Spain since 2011, according to the tax authorities, but says he only moved in 2015. The tax authorities have wanted the singer to pay taxes for those first four years for years. It never came to an official court case.

The Barcelona Court has now given its consent to the criminal case. A date is not yet known, reports the Spanish news agency EFE.

In total, six charges have been formulated against the singer. Already in 2018, this lawsuit was discussed, while Shakira won another case from the tax authorities at the end of October 2021.

At the time, the judge decided that Shakira should get an unknown amount back from the tax authorities. At that time it was already communicated that this ruling would have no effect on the criminal case that was already being investigated.

Furthermore, no statements were made about the progress of the investigation.

The Colombian singer has been in a relationship with Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué since 2011. Together they have two children.
