Shakira says her next album is ready

Singer Shakira stated that her new album is ready. The statement was made yesterday (19), during the Ivors Academy Awards 2022 event, held by one of the largest professional associations that protects the interests of composers in Europe.

Since last year, a business report from Hipgnosis Songs, the company that owns the rights to Shakira's catalog, revealed that the singer would release a new album between March and June 2022.

The Colombian's last album was “El Dorado”, released worldwide in May 2017. Despite the long break, everything indicates that she has been exploring her ideas and creativity in recent years.

In April this year, Shakira attached robots to her most famous music videos, arousing the curiosity of her fans. Faced with the singer's silence, the public interpreted the initiative as a marketing ploy for what was to come: The release of the single “Te Felicito”, the first song from her new project.

Opening doors to the new era, “Te Felicito” emerged from a partnership between Gerard Piqué's wife and Puerto Rican rapper, Rauw Alejandro. The song was released on April 21st, bringing to light the information provided by Hipgnosis Songs about the pop diva's comeback.

At the Ivors Academy event, Shakira gave an interview where she said that the next album will be danceable, with influences from reggaeton and electronic music, in addition to various collaborations.

Despite the excitement, it is likely that the Colombian's next step will be her debut on the judging panel of the reality show “Dancing with myself”, on NBC. The performer of “Te Felicito” will evaluate dance performances alongside Nick Jonas and actress Liza Koshy, a program that begins on May 31st.

The release of the album has not yet been announced, but Shakira revealed that she intends to present the new songs on the program.
