Washington Police Department arrested a man on Tuesday on suspicion of shooting and murdering homeless people. Two people were killed as a result.
In early March, five shootings took place in Washington and New York.
The three shootings in Washington took place between March 3 and 9, while those in New York were both on March 12. The first two attacks, in the early morning hours of March 3 and March 8, were not fatal.
The victims were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds, but their injuries were not life-threatening.
But on March 9, a man with multiple stab and gunshot wounds was found dead in Washington, The Washington Post reported Monday .

Police said on Sunday that the murders in both cities are linked.
For the tip leading to the arrest of the perpetrator, 55,000 dollars (50,000 euros) was offered.
