Signs Of Diabetes To Heart Disease

The condition of the feet can show signs of illness in a person

Problems that occur in your feet can be an early sign of dangerous diseases such as diabetes and heart disease. Reported by The Sun , Monday 19th April,2021, experts say paying attention to the soles of the feet will help find more signs of potential disease, including problems such as arthritis.

According to Emma McConnachie, a podiatrist and spokesperson for The College of Podiatry, try to look at foot conditions that might provide these clues.

1. A hard lump

The presence of a hard, bony lump on the side of the foot such as the thumb indicates a build-up of pressure. Often times this is just genetic, but it can also be a sign of arthritis or improperly fitting shoes.

2. Pain Around the Heel

Painful gnosis around the heel is probably one of the most common in people aged 40 to 60. This condition, known as the plantar fascia, is a ligament in the shape of a bowstring that absorbs shock when you walk.

If the shaking gets bigger, it can cause you pain, even tears. Try using sandals with curved supports.

3. Swollen feet

Swollen feet can occur during hot weather or after standing or sitting for too long. However, in rare cases, this can be a sign of serious illnesses such as blood clots, diabetes, heart, liver and lungs.

There are moves you can take to reduce swelling and increase blood flow to the legs. Try pointing your foot forward and using your big toe to draw a circle. Do this ten times clockwise and ten times counterclockwise.

But if you notice any unusual swelling, it’s important to get checked quickly, especially if you have an underlying health condition such as type 2 diabetes or heart disease. Also, get checked right away if the swelling is only affecting one leg or it feels hot to the touch, which could be a sign of a blood clot.

4. Callus

Calluses are thick, yellowish lumps of dead skin that appear when the skin is subjected to excessive pressure or friction. The small lumps of hardened skin are also called corns and usually occur as a protective measure against the body.

Most of this happens because the shoes that are used do not fit properly. However, sometimes this can also be caused by obesity or type 2 diabetes.

5. Fungal infection

Yeast infections are common when you frequently keep your feet moist after swimming and exercising or other activities. However, repeated infections can be a sign of diabetes.

6. Rash

A rash on your toes could be a sign that you are infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19). This is often seen in the early stages of infection, a few days after more characteristic symptoms such as coughing or fever.

Cold feet can be a sign of poor circulation. Many people experience it because they are often barefoot, but in some cases, they have what is known as Reynaud’s syndrome, a disorder that affects blood circulation.

For some people, it can make the toes blue or purple. This condition can get worse in winter and in people who are inactive. If you are concerned, talk to your doctor or podiatrist.
