Stranger Things Season 4 Teaser on Netflix

After a two-year hiatus, Netflix has revealed that the fourth season of 'Stranger Things' will arrive in its catalog sometime in 2022. In celebration, the streaming platform released a short teaser trailer recalling several iconic scenes from the series and giving a glimpse of scenes from the year at the end of the video. In it, we see Sheriff Hooper (David Harbour) with a new look in what appears to be Russia and carrying a flamethrower, indicating that he is in trouble. In another scene, we see Eleven (Millie Booby Brown) being removed from a van by government agents. Watch the trailer below:

Asked about the delay in the release of the fourth season, the series' producer, Shawn Levy, spoke to Variety about the issue and the difficulties that the production faced due to COVID-19. See what he said:

“To state the incredibly obvious, it’s been a long, long, long, long time coming, and it’s coming. I filmed in Lithuania right before the pandemic. We’ve filmed in Georgia, Lithuania, and New Mexico, so suffice it to say, Season 4 is sprawling. It’s visually and narratively very ambitious, much more so than the previous three seasons. The delay is largely due to COVID and the pace at which we have to work to make it safely, but it’s also the season we’ve chosen to go the furthest. It’s much larger in scale and requires multiple production efforts.”.

The third season of 'Stranger Things' ended with our Hawkins heroes dealing with the apparent loss of Sheriff Hooper and with the gang splitting up, as the Byers family moved out of town along with Eleven in the last episode. However, to everyone's surprise, a teaser for the new season released in February of last year confirmed the deputy's return in an unusual situation in Russia. The synopsis for the fourth season reveals big problems for the Hawkins heroes:

“The American (Hopper) is trapped far from home in the frozen wasteland of Kamchatka, Russia, where he will face forces both human and…other. Meanwhile, back in the United States, a new horror is rising to the surface, something long buried. Something that connects everything...”

It's worth noting that new characters will be introduced in the new season. 'Anne With Na E' actress Amybeth McNulty joined the cast in June, playing Vicky, a nerdy young woman at Hawkins High who will charm one of the protagonists. Other newcomers include Myles Truitt (Queen Sugar) as basketball player Patrick and Regina Ting Chen (Queen of the South) as school counselor Kelly.
