Super League plans
“We feel that we can no longer support a club that puts financial greed above the integrity of the game,” writes the supporters’ group Spion Kop 1906 on Twitter. “We will, along with the other groups involved, remove our flags from The Kop.”
Outside the Liverpool stadium, the fans hung black banners on Monday with the texts, among other things, in English, ‘Shame on you, RIP LFC, 1892-2021’ and ‘Liverpool fans against European Super League’. The stands of Anfield have been filled with banners for months, in support of the players now that the fans are not allowed to enter the stadium due to the corona pandemic.
Super League plans
Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are among the twelve initiators of the Super League, which should generate 10 billion euros in revenue. Supporters of the English clubs involved are furious. “This is the ultimate betrayal,” said Chelsea’s fan club. “This will be the death of our club,” Arsenal supporters say. “We are very concerned,” said the Tottenham Hotspur supporters.
The new plans are unacceptable,” said Manchester United supporters, who fear that their UEFA club will no longer be able to participate in the Premier League. According to Manchester City supporters, the future of their club is at stake.
